Protest song

"Killing In The Name"

Killing in the name of!
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Huh!

Killing in the name of!
Killing in the name of

And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
But now you do what they told ya
Well now you do what they told ya

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Uggh!

Killing in the name of!
Killing in the name of

And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control (7 times)
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya!

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Come on!

Yeah! Come on!

Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Motherfucker!
Uggh!

This song is from rage against the machine and is their first song. I've chosen this song because although it says the same sentence like 10 times in the same verse, it's a very revolutionary song, because it's against the racism and discrimination from people who is powerful like the police and politicians. In other words is an anti-abuse of autorithy.
When they say Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses I think they want  to say that all the people who works for the state, like lawyers, judges, policemen, etc. is abusing from the citizens because of their autorithy. When they say And now you do what they told ya I think they are saying that since the citizens are afraid from the autorithy, they would to anything said by someone "powerful".

"War"

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.

That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.

That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola,
In Mozambique,
South Africa
Sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed -
Well, everywhere is war -
Me say war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south -
War - war -
Rumours of war.
And until that day,
The African continent
Will not know peace,
We Africans will fight - we find it necessary -
And we know we shall win
As we are confident
In the victory

Of good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah! [fadeout]

This song was actually a speech from Haile Selassie, who was an ethiopian president. Haile Selassie said that in front of the united nationes in California in 1968. I've chosen this sog because it talks about the causes of the war, and it says that this causes are discrimination and racism.
In the first verse I think that Bob Marley wants to say that if people keep discriminating other people, war will never ends. When he says that the human rights are the same for everyone, he says that no matter what is your skin colour, nor your sexual orientation nor religion... The human rights have to be the same for everyone.
I think that song talks a lot about social inequality and racial problems

News

Women Are Told To Wear High Heels And More Makeup By Employers, To Look ‘More Appealing’ At Work

This news talks about that it's still existing the sexism in work, either because women are told to put on more makeup or wear high heels.
Most of the women feels that her employers doesn't treat women and men in the same way. Also, when her employers said something like that they feel like they're gonna lose her job because of her clothes, so they don't feel good with that.
There was a study by employment law experts, who asked 2000 after the number of people who have been told to change their apparence increased. 50% of men said that his collegues comment more about how women dress than men. Josephine Van Lierop, Slater and Gordon's lawyer said that there was a lot of employers who think that women have to dress sexier and more provocatively, she also said that this kind of sexism is usual in some workplaces like financial services or something like that.
There is a dress code that allows the employer to say his employees how they have to dress, but it musn't be discriminatory.
To sum up, more women think that they are underestimated by his employers than men.
Personal opinion
I think that nowadays this sexism shouldn't exist or at least would have to be almost gone. It's true that depending on the workplace, the employees, have to meet minimum requirements, but women don't have to dress sexier to attract the clients, they just have to be decent, like men.
I really hope that as time goes by, this sexist mentality end.

Presentation

Hello Eli!
As you know, my name is Paula and I'm 16. I have always lived in Empuriabrava, in the same house and obviously with the same people, my family. I have two siblings, one brother, David, and a sister, Carlota. My brother is 11 and he is in his first year of high school, and my sister is 14 and she is in 4 eso. My father Ramón,  works as a fireman and my mother, Marian works as a carer in a school with an autist boy.
This summer has been the best summer ever. I spent the july here, and I did a lot of things, I went almost every day to the beach (I love going to the beach, and sunbathing in the sand), I went to Aquabrava with my friends, I went to the "karting", also with my friends. Also, I spent 3 days to Portbou with my friends and I went camping with them too. In august, I went to my mother's village in Albacete, Carcelen. Every year I go there on main festivities, and every year I have great times with my family and my friends. I do a lot of things in Carcelen too. My friends and I participated in a lot of contests, like doing the best "paella" or the best huge sandwich. Also, we went to the pool,  to the mountain, and in the night we hang out to the only pub in the village.
Well, I've already explained you my summer, so I'm going to talk about my future. Now, I'm studying 1st of scientific batxillerat because I want to do something related to biology, like farmace, biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, etc. I really have high expectations about this year but I also think that it's going to be stressful, and hard. In that few days of class I've already noted the change from ESO to batxillerat, so I think that it's going to be very different because the teachers know that you are doing batxillerat because you want, so they do the units that they have to do for the PAU.
Although it is going to be difficult I want to get the batxillerat with the best mark I can get.

BYE BYE ESO

This is my last year in ESO. Truly I have passed great and bad moments in the high school. I remember my first day 6n the high school as if it was yesterday. I was very nervous because I didn't have any idea that how was going to be this great stage.
This four years have been amazing, I've learned a lot of things, I've had great adventures, and, of course, I grow up physically and psychology.
I'm sure that I will never forget all the experiences I've had, all the friends I've made, all the laughts, all the teachers (whether good or bad teachers), all the stressful moments, all the works I've done, and of course the trip to Italy, it was so perfect.
Now I can't believe that I've already finished the ESO. I think I've done a very good job and I deserve this 3 months of holidays. I'm gonig to enjoyed it a lot, because the next ones (if everything goes fine), I'll be doing the research project.
I hope next year will be as well as this year.

ALCATRAZ

I've always been interested in things like this island, Alcatraz and his prison. Alcatraz is an island located in San Francisco bay offshore from San Francisco, California. In this island there was a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison (1868) and finally a federal prison (1933-1963). Now it is a national recreation area.

I'm gonna talk about the Alcatraz federal penitenciary (the prison).

It was a three-storey cellhouse included the main four blocks of the jail, A-Block, B-Block, C-Block, and D-Block (it was where the most inmates went, and the last 5 cells were designated as "The hole", where the worst prisioners were sent for periods of punishment). The cells were primitive and without privacy, with a bed and a blanket, a desk, a washbasin and toilet on the back wall, and a few furnishings. The dining hall and kitchen where outside the building in an extended part where both prisoners and staff would eat three meals a day together.

The main prison building was built in 1910–12 during its time as a United States Army military prison.  The island became a prison of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in August 1934 after the buildings were modernized to meet the requirements of a top-notch security prison. Given this high security and the location of Alcatraz in the cold waters and strong currents of San Francisco Bay, the prison operators believed Alcatraz to be escape-proof and America's strongest prison. Alcatraz was designed to hold the most dangerous prisoners in the world. Alcatraz housed some 1,576 of America's most ruthless criminals including Al Capone, Robert Franklin Stroud (the "Birdman of Alcatraz"),George "Machine Gun" Kelly, Bumpy Johnson, among others.. A total of 36 prisoners made 14 escape attempts during the 29 years of the prison's existence. There was "the battle of Alcatraz" which was the most notable escape attempt in may 1946.

In 11th June 1962, Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin, carried out the most famous escape ever done. Behind the prisoners' cells in B-block, there was an unguarded utility corridor. The prisoners, made a hole in the damp cement using a metal spoon with a 10 cent coin sticked in it, and a drill (they use the drill during the music hour). The progress was covered by false walls, to trick the guards.
The escaped route was through the ventilation channel. In their beds, they left papier-mache dummies, with hair from the barbershop. They always did a raft with 50 raincoats. The police discovered, the raft and other objects from the prisoners  nearby Angel island. The official report includes that the prisoner drowned in the cold waters of the bay. However there are some reports that says that there was an ilegal smallboat in a bay.

MY FUTURE DOG

We all know that the dog is human's best friend, so for this one and thousands of other reasons I 've always wanted one. A long time ago, I wanted a labrador, but a few time ago, I discovered a kind of dogs that are adorable, the bulldogs. Now, I fell in love with english bulldogs.

The Bulldog is a medium-sized breed of dog commonly referred to as the English Bulldog or British Bulldog. It is a muscular, hefty dog with a wrinkled face. The Bulldog is a breed with wide head and shoulders. There are generally thick folds of skin on a Bulldog's brow, hanging skin under the neck,  wide-set eyes, round face, drooping lips and pointed teeth. The coat is short, flat, and sleek, with colours of red, fawn, white, brindle, and piebald.
In the United Kingdom, the breed standards are 50 lb (23 kg) for a male and 40 lb (18 kg) for a female.
Bulldogs are one of the few breeds whose tail is naturally short and either straight or screwed and for this reason is not cut.
Bulldogs are kind, resolute, pacific, friendly and courageous. Generally, Bulldogs are known for getting along well with children, other dogs, and pets.
I'm sure that when I grow up I'm having one of this adorable pets.
